About Us
KAWA Coffee is a small independent coffee roasting company based in Portobello, Edinburgh. Having been fortunate to travel extensively around the world, we bring to Portobello, Southern Hemisphere inspired coffee using freshly roasted, organic and ethically sourced specialty grade coffee.
Originally from New Zealand and now settled in Portobello, KAWA Coffee is a proud member of the local community.
Our coffee is roasted to order in small batches and after a short period of rest to allow the flavour profile to fully develop, we make sure that your coffee makes its way to you at its optimum taste.
Sourcing & Ethics
We work closely with carefully selected green bean suppliers to ensure that we keep providing exceptional coffee from around the world. We choose our suppliers, based on those who have similar values to us based around ethics, transparency and traceability. We look to build solid relationships with our supply chain and work with everyone involved in harvesting and seeing out the whole process, knowing exactly every stage the coffee has went through and who was involved.
All of the beans we buy are from the most recent crop, and are grown organically so that we can provide you with the freshest coffee possible.
Sampling
We constantly cup our roasted beans to make sure we get the best flavour profile from each batch. All of our coffee is roasted to bring out the best characteristic, depending on the coffee. We look to showcase the identity of each bean, so that the flavours represent the region they come from.
